Dr. Tepmony Sim

Director of Graduate School Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC)

After passing the baccalaureate exam in 2002, Dr. Sim Tepmony left his hometown in Banteay Meanchey and came to Phnom Penh to pursue his bachelor degree in Mathematics at the Royal
University of Phnom Penh (RUPP). He graduated his B.Sc. in Mathematics from RUPP in 2006 and then continued to the National Institute of Education (NIE) for a one-year teacher training
program in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics. After the completion of his training, in 2007, Tepmony was immediately recruited to be a permanent staff as a full-time lecturer of
Mathematics for the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC). In 2008, he was awarded a prestigious Erasmus Mundus scholarship for an international Master's program of Models and
Methods of Quantitative Economics (QEM) in Europe. In this program, Tepmony spent his study track, among other international students, in several countries such as Germany, France and
Italy. In 2010, he completed his Master's degrees in Applied Mathematics in Economics and Finance, and in Financial Economics from the University of Paris 1—Panthéon Sorbonne
(France) and from the Ca' Foscari University of Venice (Italy). In the same year, he returned to Cambodia and to ITC to resume his teaching position. In late 2012, he met one of his PhD
supervisors at ITC and a year later, in 2013, he was awarded a Carnot scholarship and went to France again to do his PhD in Applied Mathematics and Statistics at the Télécom ParisTech. The
fields of his PhD research were Time Series of Counts and Markov models. Tepmony earned his doctoral degree in 2016 and returned to ITC to continue his position in the same year. A month
later, he was promoted as a Vice-Director of the Graduate School of ITC and a year later, in 2017, he was promoted as the Director of the Graduate School. His role and responsibility are to manage and run the graduate programs (Master and PhD) in the engineering and scientific areas. Beside his main task as the Director of Graduate School, Dr. Sim Tepmony also provides lectures for ITC engineering and master's students. Those lectures include Calculus, Linear Algebra, Probability and Statistics.
